Tumaini Mission Hospital continues to play a critical role in proving healthcare services to our sponsored children and the communities in the SE region of Kenya. On Thursday, June 29th, we conducted our annual free medical outreach at the facility. That day we provided desperately needed care to 976 patients which was triple the number of patients that we saw last year! The word is out there that we are here to serve the needs of this region. Indeed, a number of the patients were treated for multiple health challenges so in total we provided 1,353 services. These included: general consultations (735), dental services (97), cancer screenings (52), eye clinic services (78), nursing services (59), lab tests (327), and referrals (5).
This medical outreach is informing us of common ailments and priority services to provide as we open a more comprehensive hospital in the near future. We are grateful to both international and local sponsors of the event. We are also grateful to the healthcare professionals—doctors, clinicians, nurses, dentists, and others from across Kenya who volunteered to help us that day. We are grateful to our US vision team members who volunteered in different capacities to make this day a huge success.
Thank you to individuals and foundations who contribute regularly to enhance healthcare services. You are making an indelible mark in the lives of thousands of people in this region. Tumaini is becoming a beacon of hope and an oasis of change in this part of the world.
