When you think about your health, do you think about the health of the individual parts of your body, or do you think of health as a whole? As Americans we are often concerned with the state of our heart health, managing cholesterol, high blood pressure and watching our diet. What about the brain? We wear helmets to keep our head safe from injury and look for ways to improve our brain function. But have you ever thought about your baby toe? It’s one of the tiniest parts of our body and most people probably don’t think about it much. However, drop something heavy on it and it may likely be the only thing you think about for some time. When it hurts, your whole body knows it. Did you know the baby toe has the very important job of balancing and propelling our body? It is an important part of a complex system within our feet aiding us to get where we need to go.
At Tumaini, we are all part of one body united by a common goal to make a difference by providing hope to vulnerable children, families, and communities in Kenya. Our structure encourages a hand-up, not a handout to the community we serve. As we work to complete Tumaini Mission Hospital, our approach is no different. The Kenyan community is doing their part, to help raise funds for this important project. Some guardians gave what they had to offer, much like the widow’s mite, sharing local wares including baskets and brooms they would otherwise have sold to feed their family. They recognize the need for reliable medical care in the region and want to do their part. This past summer over 40 sponsored children from different schools and regions came together to create artwork which will be offered at the gala. Some of these children had never held a paintbrush in their lives but when they understood the significance of their contribution, they raised their hands and asked if they could paint more than one piece. They stepped out of their comfort zone to do their part. These kids, who can personally attest to the hope Tumaini has given them, want to pass on that hope to others. A few guardians and some sponsored children may seem as insignificant to a $1 million goal as a baby toe does to our body, but they matter, and are playing an important part to propel Tumaini Mission Hospital forward. Now it is time for us to do our part.
We are calling on the rest of the body to prayerfully consider giving sacrificially as well. You can do that by making an immediate contribution to the Tumaini Mission Hospital project below.

We would also like to see you at our gala and encourage you to bring a guest. Tickets are limited. 100% of ticket sales go to the project and the first $250,000 in contributions will be matched. We have an exciting evening planned for you. You are the key to opening the doors to hope!
Eternally grateful,
