Introducing Christmas Vouchers

It may be a bit early to be thinking about Christmas in the U.S. but it is time to start planning for Christmas for sponsored children in Kenya.  Also, we wanted to announce some changes in our gift giving.

This year we are offering the gift of Christmas shopping vouchers for sponsored children.  What a fun activity!  Donations for vouchers are due by October 25!

Even if you are not a sponsor, you can bless a child in need by sending a voucher!

Vouchers will allow the children the opportunity to select what they need the most.  It is versatile and personalized by the child. A voucher becomes two gifts in one as children rarely, if ever, get to visit a major store or as they are often called in Kenya (shopping mall).  These are larger stores than the kiosks found in local villages and offer selections in food, clothing, books and more! The experience coupled with the items selected make this an extra special gift.

Most importantly, the voucher offers the sponsored kids an opportunity to share. Quite often, only one child in the house receives a gift and others in the home are left out.  The child can now select items that benefit the entire family as well as something personal that they can enjoy. Christmas is a season of sharing and the children get to feel the joy of giving as they share with their family. 

We encourage you to personalize the gift by sending an email or physical Christmas card, letter and even a photo or photos of yourself and/or family for your sponsored child.  I have recently been to Kenya and learned that the sponsored children want to see you! 

Note:  Many sponsors have already sent or scheduled Christmas gifts and we will apply these toward a voucher. You do not need to do an additional gift but any funds you send will be added.

One more change is in the birthday celebrations.  We are now encouraging Birthday Greetings which will be delivered upon receipt throughout the year, but any financial gift will be saved and included in the Christmas shopping Voucher.  Any Birthday gifts already scheduled and received this year will be honored.
