This Giving Tuesday, we're shining a spotlight on something that has been a cornerstone of our mission from day one: Education. Since our founding, education has been one of the three pillars of our work, because we know it is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. And as we reflect on the journey of so many of our sponsored children, we’re reminded that while completing high school is a tremendous milestone, it is just the beginning of the path toward a brighter future. We are incredibly grateful to all of our child sponsors, many of whom give sacrificially year after year to ensure that their sponsored children make it through high school. But for many of these young people, high school graduation isn’t enough. They need further education—whether it’s a professional course or a four-year college degree—to secure meaningful employment or to start their own businesses. This Giving Tuesday we are calling on you to help make that next step possible for one of these remarkable students.
Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth’s story is one of perseverance and hope. Like so many of the young people we serve, she almost missed the chance to continue her education after high school. In her words: " It was heartbreaking for me after all that effort and hard work in high school when life looked bleak as I faced the reality of missing out on college due to school fees and money for upkeep. At some point, I decided to look for work as a house help to help support my five younger siblings who were also in high school." ELizabeth’s determination to help her family was unwavering, but thanks to supporters like you, a solution was found, and she was able to continue her education. Today, Elizabeth is a first-year student at Machakos University, pursuing degree in public administration. Her journey is a testament to the power of community support, and she is deeply grateful for the scholarship she received from the Tumaini alumni fund: "I am so grateful to Tumaini for making my dream of studying at the university level come true. This is such a huge achievement for me and my family, especially being the firstborn. I want to set an example to my younger siblings that with hard work and focus, you can become anything you want to be. I am gaining the skills that will propel my career and help me be financially stable, so I can give back to others just like Tumaini gave to me."

By contributing today, you can help ensure that these students don’t miss out on their chance to change the course of their lives.
