Lawrence grew up in a rural part of Kenya where drought made even the basics like food and stability painfully scarce. His family didn’t have the means to provide a pair of shoes, let alone school fees. Education felt impossibly out of reach. Then, at 14, Lawrence was sponsored through Tumaini. He remembers that moment vividly: “They gave me shoes and some books!”
It wasn’t just a gift—it was a lifeline. Tumaini provided food when his family faced hunger and gave him the chance to go to school. Today, Lawrence is thriving. He loves math and dreams of studying statistics and economics. He longs to make a meaningful impact on his family and community.
But now, he’s waiting again—for someone, anyone, to believe in him and help close the cost barrier that blocks his path.
We are not called to “do life” alone. Lawrence’s story reminds me of Ecclesiastes 4:9: “Two are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.”
With rural families living well below the poverty line, Lawrence cannot continue his studies without a financial partner. Will you walk alongside a student like Lawrence—helping someone rise above poverty into possibility?
Your gift to the Alumni Fund helps students like Lawrence continue their education beyond high school—into college or technical training. It’s not just tuition. It’s transformation.
Watch Lawrence’s story and see the impact your generosity makes.
Let’s come together to be Hope for the Future. Your gift, your heart—it all matters.
With gratitude,
