Dear Tumaini Family,
When I first chose to sponsor Belta, she was a determined young student with a dream—to become a doctor. But without sponsorship, that dream had no financial path forward. Her family couldn’t afford to send her to high school, let alone college.
I was blessed to travel to Kenya and meet her in person. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside her as she excelled academically in her classes. Each time I visit Tumaini Girls High School, I arrive hoping to offer encouragement. But I always leave with more inspiration than I could ever give.
Our current graduating class is filled with young women of strong character, confidence, and academic excellence. They carry the potential for remarkable careers, yet their paths are too often blocked by financial barriers that no talent alone can overcome.
Reflecting on her sponsorship, Belta remembers thinking, “Things were getting better.” Sponsorship didn’t just open a door—it changed the trajectory of her life. And this year, as a "proud mum", I was able to tell her face-to-face that I would continue sponsoring her through college so she can pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Belta is smart, articulate, and deeply committed to helping her family and community. In her video, she says, “Donating the money for alumni does not go to waste.” I’ve seen that truth firsthand. Her story is living proof that hope, once planted, grows far beyond one student.
As we enter the final week of registration for our Tumaini Gala: Hope for the Future on Saturday, September 27, I invite you to be part of this ripple effect. Whether you attend the gala or make a gift toward alumni sponsorship, you’re investing in transformation.
$1,920 sends a graduate like Belta to college for one year. That gift brings life not only to one student—but to an entire community.
Let’s keep hope alive. Join us at the gala or make a gift today.
With gratitude,
Chris Buege
Development Director
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 is the FINAL DAY to register for the Gala!
