An Opportunity for Partnership | May 28

This family was already undergoing major poverty and health challenges.  Then the COVID-19 pandemic happened. Philip is a hard-working day laborer in the construction industry. His wife Esther is a homemaker and currently dealing with debilitating liver disease.  The economic effects of COVID-19 have only made their situation worse. They have three jovial children: Newton, Cynthia, and Mary. Newton, the oldest is 15 years old and in grade seven. Cynthia is 8 years old and in third grade while Mary, the baby, is 5 years old and in preschool.

Because of the on-going partial lockdown, work opportunities for Philip have increasingly become fewer.  On average, Philip makes $2 a day, and this hardly meets their basic family needs. Esther was recently diagnosed with a liver complication that will require an operation in the coming months if they will be able to raise the funds needed.  This is truly a family in dire need. Philip put best his family situation:

Since my wife was diagnosed with liver complications, life has changed so much. She uses medication worth 30 dollars every 2 weeks due to her condition. I cannot afford even the medication alone and sometimes I must borrow from [the] well-wishers. Due to the small plot of land we live in, you only get food and water when you buy. ‘’

Our calling is to provide hope and that is why I am sharing this family’s real-life situation. If you are looking for a family to support through sponsorship, this may be a perfect match for you.  It costs only $38 per month to give hope to a child.  Sponsoring Newton, Cynthia and Mary will be a huge relief to Philip and Esther. If you can respond in any way, please do so TODAY and partner with Philip and Esther as they raise these beautiful children.

Thank you for your partnership in bringing concrete hope to so many families over the years. I am always humbled by your generosity.   Thank you one, thank you all.

Ever grateful to you,
