Two weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to host Bill and Saren during their recent vision trip to Kenya. Over the course of their 10-day visit, they connected with our dedicated staff, celebrated at our girls' high school graduation, and hosted a heartfelt luncheon for dozens of their sponsored children—many of whom are now adults with families of their own.
When asked why he’s remained committed to Tumaini all these years, Bill expressed, “I have been blessed, and I want to share those blessings with others. But more importantly, I’ve visited Tumaini many times and witnessed firsthand the incredible work being done here. That’s why I choose to invest my support here, and I don’t give to other charitable organizations at all.”
Thinking back to when I first met Bill, we were just beginning our mission, having gathered our first 15 AIDS orphans and fervently praying for their sponsorship. Bill was a member of Diamond Canyon Christian Church (now Landmark) at the time, and without hesitation, he stepped up to sponsor five of those first children. My joy in that moment was overwhelming, and it marked the beginning of a transformative journey for so many.
Over the past two decades, Bill's unwavering support has been a catalyst for Tumaini's growth. He and Saren are currently sponsoring 36 vulnerable children, ranging from elementary school to college. Their generosity extends beyond child sponsorship; they’ve made significant contributions to the construction of Tumaini International Girls High School and Tumaini Mission Hospital.
What truly inspires me about Bill and Saren is their humility. Bill often reminds me that he is simply returning to God what already belongs to Him, always striving to give God the glory. Their story is a powerful testament to the impact of genuine generosity, and I hope it resonates with anyone who might be in a position to make a difference in the lives of these children and their communities in Kenya.
If you’re interested in exploring opportunities for impactful giving, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am eternally grateful to everyone who contributes to our mission, enabling us to change lives in Kenya.
