Meet Joel
Joel is a Tumaini International Alum, college graduate, and inspiring young adult co-leading Tumaini's Donor Services and managing the Field department in Kenya. Find out more of his story in this months' Employee Profile
WHAT DO YOU DO AT/WITH TUMAINI?
I work as the Donor Services Co-coordinator, and am also in charge of the Field Department which includes two Field Officers and twenty one Regional Volunteers.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH TUMAINI INTERNATIONAL?
I am a Tumaini Beneficiary and two years after graduating from College, in the USA, I decided to join Tumaini as a way of giving back…. So far so good!
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
I enjoy working with the kids. The fact that I was raised in a poor family, just like most of them, and got sponsored through Tumaini (In High School and College) puts me in a better position whereby I can understand most of the challenges they go through and how to handle them.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I like watching movies and travelling.
WHAT IS AN ITEM, POSSESSION OR THING THAT IS OF GREAT VALUE TO YOU?
I have this nice-golden necklace that I got from my Mum a few days before she passed on and I have kept it for more than a decade now…It means a lot to me.
IF YOU HAD AN ALL-EXPENSES-PAID WEEKLONG VACATION TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
Europe! To be specific, France. I have always wanted to visit Matisse Art Museum and the Famous Eiffel Tower.
