Steve
Meet Steve, Tumaini Internationals' Board Chairman. Although he is not an employee per say, Steve faithfully serves Tumaini International. Read more below...
WHAT DO YOU DO AT/WITH TUMAINI?
My wife, Ronda, and I sponsor two children and I have been on the U.S. Board of Directors for 5 years, currently in the role of Chairman.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH TUMAINI INTERNATIONAL?
I first learned of Tumaini when I was on staff at Parkcrest Christian Church. However, it was the 2012 trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro that further exposed me to the good work being done in Africa and led to my eventual joining of the Board of Directors.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
I enjoy supporting the staff and volunteers to succeed in their mission of bettering the lives of the children and families sponsored by Tumaini.
WHERE ARE YOU LIKELY TO BE SPOTTED OUTSIDE OF YOUR ROLE?
I am an avid hiker/trekker and, in addition to climbing Kilimanjaro, have also trekked to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal, taken two long treks to the Alps in Europe and hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland. I am also a granddad to the two best grandkids in the world.
WHAT IS AN ITEM, POSSESSION OR THING YOU "NEED" IN YOUR LIFE?
I spend a great deal of time online for my business ventures and for social connection – so having a computer/tablet/smartphone connection is pretty important to me. I also enjoy/require a few cups of good quality coffee each morning.
IF YOU HAD AN ALL-EXPENSES-PAID WEEKLONG VACATION WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
Somewhere tropical… Bora Bora sounds fun!
