Help us Grow a Farm That Will Feed THOUSANDS

Dear Tumaini Friends,

For 25 years, Tumaini has been Rooted in Hope — and today, we’re inviting you into a vision that could nourish thousands of children and families for generations to come.

Why the Tumaini Farm Matters

Our current Nzevea Farm spans about 9 hectares (roughly 22 acres), with 6 hectares (about 15 acres) under active cultivation. In a good season, it produces roughly 80 sacks of maize. While this helps, it falls far short of the growing food security needs within Tumaini’s programs and the wider community.

Tumaini now supports 1,600 children across nine counties — six of which are semi‑arid and frequently face hunger crises. During drought seasons, ensuring consistent food support becomes a major challenge.

At the same time, Tumaini Mission Hospital serves up to 400 clients a day, many of whom may also require nutritional support.

And when you consider entire households, the impact multiplies. Supporting 1,500 primary beneficiaries can mean sustaining nearly 10,000 people during food shortages.

The Challenge

Nzevea Farm faces significant limitations:

  • The water source is saline and unreliable

  • The land cannot support the scale of need

  • Production capacity is too small to meet demand

Even with these challenges, the farm plays a vital role — but it cannot keep up with the magnitude of need during drought and hunger crises.

The Vision: A Larger Farm With Fresh Water

To respond effectively, Tumaini needs to expand into a larger farm with reliable access to fresh water, optimal growing conditions and space for diversified agriculture.

With improved scale and resources, the farm could:

  • Provide reliable food for sponsored children, TMH patients, and Tumaini Schools

  • Create jobs and hands‑on training for families in the community

  • Increase food availability during drought seasons, reducing hunger in surrounding villages

  • Generate income through surplus produce, strengthening both Tumaini and local households

This is more than a farm — it’s a foundation for stability, dignity, and hope.

And just like Village of Hope brings people together to meet essential needs, this farm expansion is another way we’re building long‑term stability for the children and families we serve.

You Can Help Us Grow What Comes Next

This project requires $165,000, and we’re grateful to share that $45,000 has already been given. Every gift — of any size — helps close the gap and moves us closer to a farm that can feed thousands.

Together, we can plant something that lasts.
