Motherhood is a story of strength — of holding hope for your children even when the path ahead is uncertain. As Mother’s Day approaches, we’re celebrating the courage of mothers around the world whose love fuels possibility. Today, we honor one of them: Constence, a mother of five whose unwavering hope helped her daughter, Rose, step into a future once out of reach.

Before Rose joined the Tumaini Child Sponsorship Program, school was a daily struggle. Though she loved learning, she was often sent home because her family couldn’t afford school fees. Constence remembers watching helplessly, knowing how much education mattered but was unable to provide the stability her daughter needed. With no steady income and unpredictable rainfall to sustain their family, even small school expenses felt overwhelming.

Each school term brought uncertainty. High school felt like a distant dream — something Constence longed for but could not promise.

Everything changed in 2020 when Rose was enrolled in Tumaini’s sponsorship program. For Constence, it felt like hope had arrived at her doorstep.

“I felt like heaven had come down for our rescue,” she shared. “Everything changed, and hope was rekindled.”

Rose received school fees support, a uniform, and access to healthcare. She was never again sent home for lack of fees. When she later fell seriously ill, Tumaini covered the hospital bill — a cost far beyond what her family could have managed.

With consistent support and her mother’s encouragement, Rose remained focused, completed secondary school, and is now preparing to join college to pursue nursing. What once seemed impossible is now unfolding before their eyes.

For this family, sponsorship has meant more than education. It has restored dignity, stability, and hope — the very things every mother longs to give her children.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we honor mothers like Constence whose strength carries their families forward, and daughters like Rose whose futures shine brighter because of that love.

“I am very grateful,” Constence says with a smile. “Today, I can see a bright future for my daughter.”
