Dear Tumaini Friend,
For 25 years, Tumaini has been a place where vulnerable children and families discover hope, dignity, and the chance to build a new future. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking ahead with a renewed commitment: to build a Tumaini that is sustained by Kenyans for generations of Kenyan children.
One of the most beautiful signs of that future is Winnie, a Tumaini alumni whose life reflects the power of hope you help make possible.
Winnie’s Story: Strength in Every Stitch
Winnie was born into hardship. Her mother lives with intellectual disabilities, and her aunt struggled to provide for even basic needs. Then Tumaini stepped in offering child sponsorship bringing stability and hope.
In 9th grade, Winnie contracted severe meningitis and spent nearly a year in the hospital. She survived, but her ability to walk never fully returned. School was no longer possible. Her dreams seemed out of reach.
But hope rose again.
Winnie discovered beadwork, an art that allowed her to create beauty. With support from Tumaini, she trained at a vocational school, launched a small business, and now crafts stunning handbags and other items. Her income is modest, but her independence is a triumph. Today, she is giving back so others can rise as she did.
A Gift That Carries Hope
To honor our 25th anniversary, we are offering a very special opportunity.
With a donation of $200 or more, you may select one of Winnie’s handcrafted handbags, each one uniquely created by her, and available only while supplies last.
When you carry one of Winnie’s handbags, you carry a tangible example of courage, resilience and hope. Your Gift empowers alumni like Winnie and ensures vulnerable children continue to receive care rooted in their own communities.
With gratitude,
Tumaini International
