Against All Odds

Against All Odds

Against All Odds

I am excited to introduce to you two bright girls with big dreams about their future.  However, they need a hand-up to realize those dreams.  Irene, who is now 17, and Claudia who is 18, come from two poverty-stricken villages in Kilifi, Coastal Kenya.  I realize that going by their ages, they should be entering college. Unfortunately, poverty levels in this region affect many children’s education adversely and they end up starting their schooling late. Irene is being raised by her uncle after her mother left her and her siblings due to poverty challenges.  Likewise, Claudia is being raised by her mother after the father disappeared years ago. It is gratifying to note that, against all odds, including the long closure of schools due to Covid-19, both Irene and Claudia performed exceptionally well in the grade 8 national exit exam! Now they are yearning for an opportunity to go to high school and start their journey of becoming change-makers in their respective communities.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who may be interested in sponsoring a potential future leader. The commitment is just for four years and it only costs just $38 a month to give each of these girls a chance to realize their educational dreams.

As always, thank you for caring…thank you for giving hope to vulnerable girls and boys…one child at a time.
