Coronavirus Update
179 confirmed cases
6 deaths
Effective Wednesday this week, the government has announced a partial lockdown of 4 Counties (out of a total of 47) which have the most confirmed cases. The counties affected are Nairobi, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa. This lockdown eliminates any inter-county travels for a total of 21 days.
Impact on Tumaini work:
Except for Mombasa County, there are hundreds of vulnerable children and their families that we serve in those other three counties. The lockdown will limit our physical presence during those 21 days. However, we do have regional volunteers who will be able to provide basic services.
Meanwhile, at our medical clinic, we continue to experience shortages of basic protective gear for our staff due to the nationwide rationing.
We continue to report the good news that none of our staff, sponsored children, CBOs and communities have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of course, overall testing and surveillance have not been carried throughout the country yet.
Overall, thanking God for the protection of everyone involved.
Thank you, everyone, who has continued to give to our Hope Fund. Because of your generosity, we have continued to serve all the children and families in our programs.
