As we begin the new year, I want to share with you the plight of a young couple facing the undaunting challenge of raising their four children. Mumo and Susan are in their thirties doing everything they can to raise Dennis, their oldest son who is in grade 10. He is in and out of school many times because the parents cannot pay his school fees on a consistent basis. The family lives in abject poverty. Though they faithfully work their one-acre of land, unfortunately they live in a region that receives little to no rain and it is hardly enough to sustain the family. Their second born is a daughter named Hope. Hope is 15 years old and completed the eighth-grade national exit exam last year. Though she performed exceptionally well to join high school, the reality is that Hope may not join high school because the parents cannot afford to pay the required fees. Their third born is Esther, 9 years old and in grade 4, and the last born is a girl named Blessing who is 8 years old and in grade 2.
Expressing their desperate situation to our staff, Susan shared how difficult it is for her and Mumo to find even day labor jobs in their village: “Getting casual jobs [as day laborers] in our area is very difficult and sometimes we sleep on empty Stomachs.” But even with such harsh circumstances of going hungry, most parents prioritize their children’s education, and it was not surprising when Susan pleaded with our staff “I :am going through an extremely tough time thinking about how I will take my daughter Hope to high school. I have been praying to find a way, but I do not know how.” I am asking you to prayerfully consider sponsoring one or all these children: Dennis, Hope, Esther, and Blessing. Would you kindly share this need in social networks, family, and friends? The most pressing need is, of course, to sponsor Hope so that she can join High School in the next few weeks. Thank you for your incredible partnership so far. Through your support you have enabled us to forever change many sad stories to unimaginable hope and success. We have an opportunity to impact more lives….beginning with Mumo and Susan’s family.
Eternally grateful to you all,
