TUMAINI MISSION HOSPITAL SERVICES UPDATE
Tumaini Mission Hospital is currently serving patients in Masii and the surrounding areas while continually becoming equipped and improved! Currently our core services include 24-hour Emergency Department, a General Medicine Department, an Outpatient Facility, and a fully equipped Maternity Ward.
Additionally, we have introduced a range of specialized services to meet the growing needs of our patients. These include Inpatient, Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation, Radiology, and Emergency/Casualty Services.
Our Inpatient services include a Maternity Care and a Newborn Unit, Private and Executive Wards, and Casualty Wards for ER patients under observation. To accommodate the increasing number of patients, we have expanded our medical team, which now includes four clinical officers, two medical doctors, and six nurses, all dedicated to providing high-quality inpatient care.
Our Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation departments are now fully operational, offering a broad range of services aimed at pain relief, mobility improvement, and post-injury recovery. These services include: Occupational Therapy, Exercise Therapy, Manual Therapy and Massage, Application of Plaster of Paris, Patient Education, and Pain Management Advice.
This expansion ensures that patients with musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and post-surgical needs receive professional rehabilitation services to restore functionality and improve their quality of life.
Under the expert leadership of Beatrice, our Radiology department serves as the hospital’s "eye," playing a crucial role in diagnostics. Equipped with modern imaging technology, including conventional radiography (X-ray) and ultrasound machines, this department enables accurate and timely diagnoses for conditions such as bone fractures, back pain, and joint issues.
Previously, many local residents had to travel to Machakos and endure long queues to access imaging services. Now, with our well-equipped radiology unit, patients in Masii and surrounding areas can receive high-quality imaging services close to home. Since its inception just a few months ago, the department has already assisted over 479 patients, and this number continues to rise.
This expansion ensures that patients with musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and post-surgical needs receive professional rehabilitation services to restore functionality and improve their quality of life.
Our Emergency Room is fully operational, handling a wide range of urgent medical cases, including: accident and trauma cases, poisoning and toxicology cases and also surgical emergencies.
Our primary objective in this department is to stabilize critical patients before determining whether they require further hospitalization or can be safely discharged. In cases requiring specialized treatment beyond our capacity, we facilitate timely referrals to advanced medical facilities.
While we celebrate these milestones, our vision remains ambitious. We are actively working to introduce dental, optical, and surgical services in the near future. To achieve this, we rely on the continued generosity of our supporters.
Your donations have played a crucial role in our growth, and we invite you to be part of our next phase of expansion. One of our upcoming fundraising initiatives includes the Mt. Kilimanjaro Charity Climb, a fund-drive aimed at raising additional funds to equip our hospital with advanced medical equipment such as a CT scan.
Together, we can continue transforming lives and providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services to our communities. Thank you for your support.
