Building Futures! One kick at a time.

Building Futures! One kick at a time.

When Tumaini Mission Hospital was under construction, local young men from the community were hired as day laborers to help raise the walls of healing.

But Tumaini staff saw more than laborers. They saw young men who had once spent their days idly in town—some battling addiction, others simply worn down by hopelessness. What they needed wasn’t just work. They needed purpose. They needed connection. They saw lives worth investing in.

So, after hours, our staff kept showing up. They offered mentorship, encouragement, and something unexpected: a soccer ball. With that ball—and a heart for community—the Tumaini Soccer Club was born.

What started with 20 young men quickly became more than a game. Today, the team meets twice a week for practice, encouragement, and discipleship. It’s a space where young men build friendships, grow in faith, and rediscover their worth.

One of the most inspiring stories is that of the team’s goalkeeper, who overcame drug addiction through the support of his teammates and the sense of belonging the club provides. His transformation is a living example of Tumaini’s mission: restoring dignity, building relationships, and offering hope that lasts.

Thank you for being part of this story. Your support reaches far beyond hospital walls—it meets people where they are and walks with them towards healing.

With gratitude,

The Tumaini International Team
