Jovial Meshack| Hope Note

"We all slept in a two room grass thatched house which was not in a good condition,”recalls Meshack, a 29-year-old Tumaini alumni. Meshack remembers how and he and his seven siblings suffered before he was sponsored by Landmark Church (now Diamond Canyon Christian Church) from elementary school through college. Meshack’s parents died in 2003 leaving their last born only two years old. “Life became hopeless for us since we had no one to take care of us.”  A devout Christian, Meshack kept trusting that God would provide for them.  He recalls vividly one afternoon at their school in 2005 when someone who turned out to be a Tumaini staff member visited their school and a month later found out that he had been sponsored by Landmark Church.

“Tumaini explained to us that they would assist us spiritually and financially. I was filled with happiness since my life would change. I attended several holiday Bible study camps organized by Tumaini which built me spiritually. Within a short period, our family’s hopelessness changed completely since we could be provided with food, clothes, and other basic needs."

Meshack would later continue to complete not only elementary and high school successfully but also college. He has since graduated and serves as an elementary school teacher. He remembers with gratitude: “The church through Tumaini paid for my school fee and everything the school(s) needed was catered for by my sponsor.”

Meshack teaches in village elementary school with bare bones facilities and supplies. Yet, in his jovial and optimistic demeanor, Meshach is giving hope to a new generation of Kenyan children.  Meshack is a living testimony to Tumaini’s clarion call: giving hope where there is no hope.  He had this to say to those who invest both financially and spiritually in the lives of vulnerable children like him: “Thank you so much for brightening my life and those of many needy children and our families. Our lives seemed miserable but not anymore. Your good work is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).”

I am glad that Meshack is a teacher, positively impacting a whole generation of Kenyan children. This would not have been possible without the investment of Landmark Church in his life for many years. Thank you to the thousands of you who are investing in the lives of vulnerable children like Meshack and his siblings.  If you are reading this success story and would like an opportunity to invest in a vulnerable child like Meshack was, please go online or call TODAY as we have thousands of similar cases.
