The Unfolding Story

Alumni Impact

I knew in my heart that one day I would give back to the organization.  Thanks to the alumni who voted me to be the Secretary of Tumaini Alumni. I would like to encourage anybody who feels like giving up that they must always remember that God is still in control and they are destined for greatness." I remember what I have gone through and my job is to support vulnerable families. I am one step closer to doing so.”  Those inspiring words were shared by one grateful Mary in a recent message.

The 23-year-old Mary was raised by her widowed mother. The last born in a family of two, Mary reminisces on the struggles that her mother went through to raise them up after her dad died, months before she was born.  A gifted and bright student, Mary performed well in her 8th-grade national exit exam but remembers her desperation at the time. She was about to miss her chance to go to high school.  “I received a calling [admission] letter to join the best girls’ high school in the county but my mum had no potential to cater for my school fees”.  It was during those difficult days when Tumaini stepped in.  She was sponsored by Jackline, another Tumaini alumni through completion of high school. She again scored remarkably high in her 12th-grade national exit exams and received admission at Kenyatta University, one of the premier universities in Kenya to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Industrial Chemistry and Management).During her university studies, Dr. Marion sponsored her education in full.  Mary graduated in 2019 near the top of her class.  She is now working as a Managing Director and Sales Executive for Zedcom Kenya Limited, an IT company that deals with hospital management systems.

Mary is grateful for the bright future that God has created for her through Tumaini. Her success path is truly a unique one --Someone sponsored Jackline and she in turn sponsored Mary.  And Mary is now beginning to play a key role that will impact many of our sponsored children.  Mary put it best: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Tumaini for being so generous and for sponsoring my education. I am so privileged and humbled and would like to express my heartfelt thanks…. Thank you so much for your support and for believing in me.” In her role as the Secretary of Tumaini Alumni Association, Mary is playing a critical role in enlarging alumni participation as well as creating economic pathways for their younger brothers and sisters in the organization.

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored children to realize their dreams and aspirations. Your sponsorship can truly make an enormous difference in a child’s life!  If you have been praying and thinking about it, TODAY you have an opportunity to sponsor a girl or a boy and start creating a story of hope just like Mary’s.  It costs just $38 a month to transform a lifeYou can start your sponsorship today by going online or calling our office.

As always, I am profoundly grateful for your amazing partnership in changing lives.

Sincerely,

Stanley Mutunga
President & CEO
