From sponsored child to director

It is a bittersweet season here at Tumaini.  It is a season for a significant leadership change in Tumaini operations in Kenya. We are sad to see William Maweu, our Program Director leave to pursue further studies in the USA.  William and his family will be moving to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California to continue his graduate studies.  We are grateful for William’s dedication and diligence of duty over these past few years and are praying for God’s leading and success in this new season of life.

On the other hand, we are very excited to announce that his replacement is Joel Mutuku, effective September 1st, 2018. Joel is a former Tumaini sponsored child, and before this appointment, he served as the Coordinator for Donor & Child Sponsorship Services. He is among several of our alumni who have come back to work for the organization after completing their studies. Joel holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management from Hope International University in California. We are truly grateful to have them again as colleagues.

Joel becomes the first alumnus to take on key leadership responsibility in this growing organization. My colleagues on the board and I have confidence in Joel’s ability to lead. However, I would ask you to keep Joel in your prayers.  We are excited about the next chapter in the organization’s life and can’t wait to see what God has in store for His Kingdom and us.

I wish to extend a sincere thank you to every donor and sponsor who has invested in a vulnerable child, as now some of them are becoming our leaders. Special thanks to Dr. Terre for investing in Joel for many, many years, through completion of both high school and college education. Please join me in congratulating Joel as he assumes this key position in our organization.

I am grateful to all our prayer and financial supporters for the incredible ways you continue to provide hope where there was no hope.
